****Providing Teletherapy and In-Person Psychotherapy****
Areas of Specialization in Psychotherapy
In therapy I do not specifically treat a symptom or condition, but engage with you in a collaborative exploration of whatever is troubling you. Your concerns and experiences direct our attention within, to their source. That being said, I have successfully helped many people who were seeking therapy for the following issues:
Work-Life Balance-when your job and work culture demand so much of your time and attention, there is often little time left over for introspection, contemplation or self-care.
Internet porn addiction and other sexually compulsive behaviors -rather than a strictly behavioral approach, we increase awareness of what is motivating the compulsion, bringing to light the needs that the behaviors are trying to meet, fill or cover up.
Other Addictions- whatever form an addiction takes- work, substances, relationship, sex, food, it is always an attempt to avoid something inside- sometimes pain, loneliness, confusion, or fear.
Life Transitions- mid-life (and beyond) issues, marriage, becoming a parent, divorce, death of a loved one, health challenges, empty nest, new employment.
Mid-and-Later Life - people in middle age and beyond often face unique challenges, growth opportunities and inquiries into their lives. These may include a new sense of meaning, peace and wisdom; spirituality; feelings about growing older; facing regrets and loss; grief; changes in body and health.
I have experience, interest and cultural competence in working with the richly diverse fabric which makes up the population of San Francisco: people of various cultures and ethnicities, male, female, LGBTQ.
