![]() As baby boomers grow older, there is a revolutionary movement underway. Just as boomers have lived a very different life from their parents decade after decade, they are also approaching aging differently. There are many terms used for this new relationship to becoming an elder: Conscious Aging, Gerotranscendence, and Transforming Aging to name a few.
Aging consciously is a path that encourages older people to reclaim their rightful place as respected and wise elders in our society. It refutes the invisibility and lack of importance accorded elders in this youth-obsessed culture. Aging can be a time of cultivating wisdom, living a more authentic life, of deeper introspection and spiritual growth, of mentorship and service, and of new work or creative interests. As time grows shorter, it may be a time of figuring out what is really important, and moving in those directions. There may also be fear and concerns that are present or emerge, and these too, need to be given a voice and honored. I would be happy to collaborate with you in therapy on whatever is stirring in you about aging. Call me for a free phone consultation |
